What to check before you buy
Start with the builder
Choose a theme and complexity that suit the person, the available space and whether they prefer playing or displaying. Piece count alone does not tell you whether it is the right gift.
Check condition and completeness
A used set may have missing pieces, instructions or minifigures. Read the listing carefully and check whether the box matters to the recipient before comparing it with a sealed set.
A useful offer beats a big percentage
Keep the total price in view.
Compare the same model and condition, add delivery, and check any membership or voucher requirements. A discount against RRP does not establish that a price is the lowest it has been.
