Copystands
How to choose copystands
Choose copy stands for flat object repro, or camera calibration tools for 360 environment rear viewer systems.
Decide if you need the built-in light on a calibration tool or can work with ambient room light.
Pick darkroom and developing equipment only if you shoot film, not purely digital photography.
What's good
- Copy stands here use aluminium alloy, giving a rigid yet portable base for photographing documents and art.
- Camera calibration tools with integrated light let you align 360 environment rear viewer cameras in low light.
- Darkroom and developing equipment support film workflows at home, away from external labs.
- The photography and optics sub-types cover both capture and measurement needs in one category.
Things to watch
- Aluminium copy stands serve a single purpose, so they will not replace a general tripod.
- Calibration tools in this range target 360 environment rear viewer systems, not standard camera lenses.
- Darkroom kit needs a light-tight room, which many UK homes do not have.
- Developing and processing gear adds manual steps compared with sending film to a lab.
Care & maintenance
Wipe the aluminium copy stand column with a dry cloth to keep height adjustment smooth.
Keep the calibration tool's light lens clean so the beam stays even.
Store darkroom trays and processing items dry after use to avoid residue.
