Billiard Table Cloth
How to choose billiard table cloth
Cloth vs full set
Choose between a plain cloth and a set with cushion rail pads. The set saves time but fits listed table sizes.
Wool or nylon
Pick material: wool for a classic feel, nylon as the alternative in this range.
Table size
Match to table size. Pre-cut sets cover 7ft, 8ft or 9ft, while some kits let you cut your own.
Upkeep included
Factor in cleaning. A combined cleaning set suits those who want upkeep included, a standalone felt does not.
What's good
- A combined cloth and cushion rail pad set covers bed and rails in one go, suitable for standard 7ft, 8ft or 9ft tables.
- Felt replacement kits with a stated 0.6mm thickness are built to be wear-resistant and can be cut for an exact fit.
- Wool velvet felt gives a traditional surface for indoor billiards and fits the Billiards sub-type.
- Cleaning cloth sets pair table and cue wipes, so you get upkeep with the main purchase.
Things to watch
- A standalone cloth leaves you to find cushion pads separately, adding a second task.
- Pre-cut pad sets match 7ft, 8ft or 9ft tables only, so non-standard sizes need trimming.
- Wool cloth needs regular cleaning, and buying it alone means sourcing a cleaning set later.
- Cut-to-size kits demand accurate measuring before trimming, or the piece is wasted.
Care & maintenance
Wipe down
Wipe the cloth with a dedicated cue and table cleaning cloth after each session.
Brush wool
Brush wool velvet lightly to clear chalk dust without flattening the nap.
Store offcuts
Store any offcuts from a cut-to-measure kit flat, ready for small repairs.
