Nuts & Seeds
How to choose nuts & seeds
Sub-type
First, pick the sub-type: Food Items for cooking, or Food, Beverages & Tobacco for drink bases like guarana.
Material
Next, for event gifts, choose a material: paper and cardboard/iron are light, while pine, coconut, copper, gold, plastic, or iron last longer.
Colour
Colour matters: pink, gold, cream, and white suit christenings, while green, orange, yellow, or black fit other themes.
Seed type
Edible seed type drives use: brown walnut pieces for baking, white sesame for bread, brown guarana for beverages.
Quantity
Quantity tier splits bulk bags from small favour packs, each with different storage needs.
What's good
- Raw whole seeds like brown walnut pieces and white sesame give bakers a plain ingredient with no added sugar.
- Pre-assembled almond favours save planners time, with pink or gold options to match ceremonies.
- Favour packaging in wood, hemp, or metal turns a guest gift into a small keepsake.
- The range covers both Food Items for the pantry and Food, Beverages & Tobacco types like guarana seeds for drinks.
Things to watch
- Sugared almond favours suit weddings and baptisms, but they are wrong for everyday snacking.
- Opened brown walnut pieces or sesame seeds go rancid quickly without airtight storage.
- Metal or wood favour containers are heavier to post than paper or cardboard/iron wraps.
- Bright coating on almonds can mask the condition of the nut inside.
Care & maintenance
Storage
Keep opened seeds in a sealed jar in a cool cupboard.
Dry conditions
Dry whole guarana seeds away from steam to preserve them.
Reusable packaging
Wipe wood or metal favour boxes after use so they can be reused.
Wrapper care
Store paper or hemp wrapped favours flat, away from damp walls.
