Toilet Paper
How to choose toilet paper
Decide between function and gift
Function vs gift: Household Paper Products cover daily use, while Home & Garden listings are embroidered novelties for occasions.
Weigh the material
Material mix: plain paper is simple to flush, bamboo/paper is greener, and plastic blends resist damp but recycle less easily.
Pick a colour
Colour: white and brown suit routine baths, while grey, blue, or red fit a themed room or joke present.
Choose pack size
Pack scale: Household Supplies includes large packs that cut reorder frequency but demand storage room.
Check skin needs
Skin sensitivity: choose undyed paper or cotton/paper embroidered items over dyed coloured or plastic-mix rolls. The live grid below shows which listings match these traits.
What's good
- Everyday paper rolls in white or brown (Household Paper Products) fit standard holders and give the familiar softness most UK bathrooms expect.
- Bamboo and bamboo/paper rolls use a faster renewing crop, a solid pick for lowering forest impact.
- Embroidered novelty rolls from the Home & Garden sub-type, in cotton/paper with blue or grey threads, make funny keepsakes for milestones.
- Bulk 2-ply packs under Household Supplies mean fewer delivery boxes over the year, useful for larger households.
- Velvet-material rolls add a thicker, plusher sheet for those who want a comfort step up from basic paper.
Things to watch
- Novelty embroidered rolls (cotton/paper) are keepsakes, not built for flushing, so using them as normal tissue wastes the gift.
- Paper/plastic and bamboo/plastic mixes trade some compostability for strength, a downside if you compost bathroom waste.
- Coloured rolls (lavender, red, green, gold) can carry dyes that irritate sensitive skin, whereas white or brown avoid that risk.
- Bulk 40-packs need cupboard space and a bigger basket, though the grid shows exact sheet counts.
- Thicker velvet or 2-ply luxury tiers may not suit older narrow plumbing, where thinner paper breaks down faster.
Care & maintenance
Store in dry cupboard
Keep bamboo and paper/plastic rolls in a dry cupboard, as humidity can weaken the sheet or warp plastic cores.
Protect embroidery
Store embroidered novelty rolls away from steam so the cotton threads stay tidy.
Shield from sunlight
Avoid direct sun on coloured lavender/white rolls to stop the outer ply fading.
Check holder fit
Measure your holder before bulk packs arrive, because jumbo rolls need a wider spindle than standard.
