Sippy Cups
How to choose sippy cups
Material by age
Pick silicone for Baby & Toddler if gum comfort matters more than insulation.
Outing vs weight
Choose stainless steel/silicone hybrid for park visits, accepting extra weight.
Open vs lidded
Decide between open training cup (skill gain, more mess) and lidded Nursing & Feeding cup (less spill).
Colour limits
Colour choices like pink/purple or brown are available, but not every material offers all shades.
Adaptive grip
For adaptive needs, double handled mugs in the range trade colour range for grip stability.
What's good
- Silicone Baby & Toddler cups bend without breaking, soft for teething gums.
- Stainless steel and aluminium versions hold temperature on days out.
- Open training cups in the range build sipping skills earlier than lidded types.
- Personalised tumblers make ready gifts for birthdays or Christmas.
- Double handled adaptive mugs give adults a secure grip.
Things to watch
- Glass and bamboo cups crack if dropped on hard floors.
- Steel and metal cups weigh more, hard for small toddlers to lift.
- Plastic and polypropylene retain odour after repeated juice use.
- Open training cups spill more than sealed sippy options in Nursing & Feeding.
- Personalised cups often come as tumblers, less suited to infants still nursing.
Care & maintenance
Strip valves
Disassemble silicone and plastic/silicone valves to wash out residue.
Dry metal
Hand dry stainless steel and aluminium to prevent watermarks.
Hand wash fragile
Wash bamboo and glass by hand, as harsh dishwashers may damage them.
Seal check
Check seals on lidded cups weekly to stop mould buildup.
