A carpet cleaner machine can mean a full-size upright washer or a portable spot cleaner. Choose around the area you want to clean, the surfaces approved by the manufacturer and the space available for storage before comparing prices.
This is a shopping guide based on manufacturer information and retailer offers. We have not carried out cleaning-performance tests. The hero is an editorial illustration, not an exact depiction of the featured machines.

Upright carpet washers
An upright format is worth shortlisting when you want to work across a larger carpeted area. Check machine dimensions, weight, tank access and where you will empty and clean it. The box still needs a storage space after the first clean.
Shark lists the EX250UK as an upright carpet cleaner with a built-in handheld spot and stain remover. That makes included tools worth checking alongside the upright function. Colour and retailer bundles can differ, so use the model code and packing list rather than the photograph alone.
Portable spot cleaners
A spot cleaner is a useful format to compare for smaller areas, stairs and suitable upholstery. Check whether the hose and power cable reach the places you intend to clean. A portable machine still needs filling, emptying, rinsing and drying after use.
Look at the actual supplied hand tools and tank information in the retailer listing. Similar product names can cover different accessory packs. A spot cleaner should not be priced as though it is the same machine as an upright washer, even when both listings say “carpet cleaner”.
Buying for a home with pets
Treat “pet” as a prompt to inspect the tools and maintenance instructions, rather than a guarantee that every mess or material is suitable. Check how hair and debris are handled, which formula the manufacturer permits and how the hose and tanks are cleaned. Follow the machine and fabric care instructions, including any patch-test requirements.
Allow for replacement cleaning supplies in your budget. A starter bottle is not an indefinite supply, and a listing for shampoo or refill solution is not a machine. Our carpet cleaner machines collection separates complete cleaners from identified liquids, powders and spare-tool listings.
Black Friday and other sale checks
Build a shortlist before the sale and use the exact product’s price history and target-price notifications. Compare delivered totals for the same model, condition and tools; a larger claimed percentage saving is not evidence of a lower final cost.
Check retailer identity, returns, warranty and dispatch date. Refurbished and used machines need particular attention to condition, supplied tools and cleaning history. Browse the home and kitchen Black Friday hub for related shopping checks without assuming every listed product is discounted.
